On this Presidents Day, let us take a moment to remember the 13th man to hold this prestigious office. Fillmore, our greatest president, will undoubtedly go down in history as the most celebrated American hero of all time.

Fillmore's diplomatic endeavors with Mexico avoided a resumption of the hostilities that had broken in 1848 and laid the groundwork for the Gadsden Treaty during Pierce's administration. A man of only modest wealth, Fillmore is remembered as the first true middle-class president, devoting his entire career to public service. He denounced secession and fought to preserve the foundation of a united America. Also, his name was Millard, which is awesome in itself.

I have some respect for Polk as well, being the President who quite literally worked himself to death while accomplishing much, though admiration might not fit that kind of kaizen derangement when one doesn't *aspire to be* such a person.
